My return to the Tele led me to join the forum this morning. I've been reading posts, gathering bits of knowledge, and admiring the images for years, but never joined as I've been Tele-less since 1998. I had a very nice American Tele that I sold off along with a Blues DeVille 212 during a momentary lapse of reason. I've spent the interim playing several different makes and models, and am once again the happy picker of a Tele...2 of them actually.
In an effort to reduce hand fatigue I recently started looking for something with a slimmer, more comfortable neck than what I've been playing (I've got something going on that's causing the little and ring finger of my left hand to go numb...probably ulnar nerve). I also got some cash and some amps from the deals, and am much happier with my current lot than I was.
I wasn't too excited about the Affinity Tele but it came with an amp I was interested in. What a sleeper that thing was. I gave it a well needed cleaning, setup, and fret dressing, and it's now an outstanding player. The pups are pretty good, the tuners hold well, and it is really comfortable to play. I put a little tint and a shine to the neck and it really dressed it up from the pasty white it started out as.
I listen to several styles of music but mostly play classic rock and blues, and I'm learning as much as I can about playing jazz and the fretboard in general so I can hopefully sit in on a jazz jam at some point. I play weekly with a couple of other guys and we're working toward getting a set or two together to eventually play out locally.
That's it in a nutshell. I'm going to go snoop around the forums now and see what the latest is.
