My first upright!

I have been playing an electric upright and after 6 years of denying myself the pleasure I finally got a an acoustic bass. Man am I happy. Its a czeck made ply bass made sometime between the 60's and 90's, info is scarce, they were imported under the name of british music store Boosey and Hawkes. The bass is in pretty good condition and seems to have a shiny poly type finish and a rosewood neck with a yucky bridge. I decided to go in head first and fit my own bridge with adjusters despite the talkbass guys telling all the newbies "dont do it you fool!" so that made me even more determined haha
I got a beautiful ebony/brass endpin unit, bridge blank, set of adjusters and went to work. Lots of work. I had to tool up and got a small drill press for drilling the adjuster holes, clamps, hand plane and other bits. it really took ages to cut the bridge to size, drill and sand like a monkey for days at a time in the backroom cum workshop but its finally cleaned up and restrung with a set of Spiro lights. Now I just have to get good at playing the thing.

Awesome! I had a nice Engelhardt (Kay) C-3, but sold it because I wasn't playing it much, and I miss it!!!!

I don't have any use for an upright, don't feel like hauling it around (I'd still need an amp), find them more difficult to play (well) than a bass guitar -- and I really want one!
Especially one as pretty as that. If it sounds as good as it looks... color me green. :mrgreen:
