Stratotwanger October 16th, 2009, 02:07 AM I just picked up this 1983 Gibson Corvus III, all original, bolt on, 5 way and is amazing! It's one of those rare, love it or hate it shapes. Lovingly named the can opener in it's day. Tone, Tone, Tone.

Yup, it sure is...
BigDaddyLH October 16th, 2009, 06:06 PM Is it a Neck bomber?
See the Wiki page for the "Crow". Came and went so fast it didn't have a chance to say "good-bye".
Stratotwanger October 16th, 2009, 10:20 PM It's actually extremely cool, as long as I have this, and a few of my other purchases, my Strats won't see the light of day. They made the Corvus from 82-84 and then they did a set neck version after that and called it the Futura. Now they have the Futura out again which is the original design of the Explorer. It's so funny how they keep running out of names to call guitars so they just use one that they think people have forgot about. It is really balanced well, no neck bombing here. It's just something you have to check out for yourself if you ever get the chance. Just thought I'd share it with you all since it's such a hard to find little guy.

Post Toastie October 17th, 2009, 01:18 PM Looks like you could hold it like a Rifle against your shoulder and play it.
eddiewagner October 20th, 2009, 01:48 PM Yup, it sure is...

Roli October 20th, 2009, 05:19 PM Is "overdesigned" a word?
leonard d rock October 21st, 2009, 01:59 AM measure it and see if it fits the overhead bin of airplanes. might make a good travel guitar

Stuco October 21st, 2009, 02:17 AM Let me first say that I like it because of it's strange shape and oddity factor. I would own and play that. That being said, it's got to be one of the unsexiest guitars ever lol!
E5RSY October 21st, 2009, 02:44 AM Looks like an oven-mitt with a neck.
patrickhowell October 21st, 2009, 07:22 AM It looks like the awkward Breadwinner's awkward cousin... but I like it.
Stratotwanger October 22nd, 2009, 03:14 AM Yep, it's full sized and it's quickly become one of my favorite guitars. I have around 30 Strats and this thing just simply spanks them all. It's quite amazing despite the shape of the body.
Headshot October 22nd, 2009, 04:05 PM I am picturing it custom painted to look like a shark..........

It would definitely lend itself to that. It's got the big gaping mouth going on.
Here are a couple more that are out there right now.
