I was turned on to this deal from the Agile forum. You can pick up the Silver Creeks on a call in "weekly special" for 199.99 for the T/D rosewoods, 179.99 for the T/D hogs, plus get a $100 rebate. Just ordered one today. Be sure to ask for the weekly special to get the deal. Download the rebate form from their website. Hurry, because it may not be available much longer.

I read somewhere that the Silver Creeks have wide necks. I really don't want anything bigger than my Tele neck, but the measurements I got off MF's site listed nut width at 1-11/16 (only 1/16 wider than my Tele), width at 14th fret at 2-1/8 (only 1/16 wider than my Tele), and string spacing at the saddle at 2-1/8 (the same as my Tele).

I've never played a Silver Creek; do the necks seem wide to you? Are my measurements off or something? I didn't see a measurement for string spacing at the nut - I'm assuming the measurement they listed was for the entire width of the nut.

And, just to get this straight, we're talking about $179 - $100 rebate = $79 for the guitar? Is that right?

Edit: Just wanted to add that I would be looking at the dreadnought sized one.

that is a great deal ... my all solid wood MIJ Yamaha LS10 cost $600 ($1000 off list from MF) but it was made in their oldest factory and the label is hand signed by the luthier ...

Are these all solid wood like the other Silver Creeks I've read about? Or are they a cheaper laminated guitar? The solid wood ones were going for $250-$400, whereas this one is priced at $179...

Yep, you got the math right.

Same guitars. Thus a call in only blowout sale.

Solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides..wide neck[if you have small hands forget it]..$199-$100 rebate=$99..
This ain't no Martin but it's a good sounding and playing axe.I'm thinkin' a bone saddle and nut and good strings will bring it to life..Dunno yet..

I've heard the necks are THICK, not WIDE...

Which is it? Aren't the necks 1 11/16"? I think I've seen the SC necks descibed as a "baseball bat"?

silvercreek necks aren't thin and wide like seagulls, there's more depth meat happening.

thanx for the tip, just ordered a d170 ... at $199, that's a stupid no-brainer for a solid spruce, solid rosewood back/sides dreadnought.

I've owned the d-170 before. It is a nice guitar even for the full price. The D's have a standard width neck and the T's have the 1 3/4 nut width like a martin OM. It's more for fingerstyle.

Papa Joe, they already have a bone nut and saddle. My saddle needed a little cleaning up (was finished a bit rough causing a sitar noise on the B string) and I lowered it a bit.

Got my T-170 for $199 during the SDOTD. You can't go wrong,. These are great guitars. And for $99????

In on a T-170. A couple of buddies ordered one also. From the reviews I've read this deal is pretty much a no-brainer.

Yep, you got the math right.

I just called and was told the rebate DOES NOT apply to the $179 price. The price is the price.

You pay $179. You get the $100 rebate by mailing in the rebate form that you download from MF's web site. There is no restriction on the rebate form regarding what price you paid.

What the hay, it's worth a shot. I've been looking for something inexpensive to keep at my cabin, and the T170 seems just the ticket.

Update: free shipping doesn't apply to Canada. Add $65 to the price for that, and then duty at the border. Dang! I was ready to order, but I can get a nice little Yamaha for $275 and I can play it first. You guys get all the good deals down south!

Which of the Musicians friends cases fit these?

I might do like Rob, order one of each.

So... is there a noticeable difference in sound between the D-160 (mahogany back and sides) and the D-170 (rosewood)?

What's the action like on these things? I like it pretty low. Is there sufficient saddle height to lower the action if it's not already low?

Just ordered two with cases.

One for me, one for my daughter for Xmas.

Amazing.

They also had a $6000 Ibanez for $4000 if anyone has that kind of cash available.

I just called them up, and the guy said they're not on the weekly special anymore. He said that there was a short period of time where the weekly special on these things and the $100 rebate overlapped. Guess I missed that time... Kind of sucks. I probably should have done it a day or two ago.
