Spraying over lacquer? [Archive] - Telecaster Guitar Forum

I am in the process of finishing this Tele style. I have used Dakota yellow on the back and sides and wanted to have it burst over the top edge. It all looked good but after putting the lacquer on it looks like it needs more of a gradient across the top.
Question is, would I need to sand down the lacquer before putting more colour on or could I just add more between lacquer coats?
