A friend of my 81 year old Mother dropped by this little Mahogany and wanted me to take a look at it. She thought it was a '63 or they got in 1963. Couldn't remember. After a little research it looks to be a 59. S prefix incates 1959 so I read. It also has a Brazilian rosewood bridge indicating pre '62. Complete w/ chipboard alligator case. What a sweet little "brownie" she is. Don't know if she wants to sell it give it away or what. She told my Mom that she's tone deaf and that none of her kids have any interest. If she does want to sell I'll make her a fair offer. I know what they're worth. I just love little brown 'hogs. Would keep my little 69 Favilla F5 company:wink:

Got one of those '59 LGO's myself.. Incredible neck, great for finger-pickin' blues..

Booman - the one in your pic looks spot on for a late 1950s LG-0. The easiest way to know if it is pre-1960 is the neck profile. In 1960 Gibson dumped the big rounded neck for a slimmer profile.

Tele-Champ - yours is a somewhat different beast. The adjustable saddle bridge and pickguard date it as being built between 1966 and 1970. Probably the major difference is that in 1965 Gibson started using automatic neck machines which turned out an even thinner neck profile and reduced the headstock pitch from its traditional 17 degrees to 14 degrees.

Zombywoof, thanks for the information on my LG-O. I always assumed it was a '59 because the guy I bought it from told me he thought it was a '59, but he wasn't positive. So looks like it's a little newer than that, according to your info. It does have an extremely thin neck (which I love BTW) ~

Thanks for the excellent info!!
