Is this an easy fix?

I just got my Roadworn 50's strat (2 tone sunburst) from MF for $499. Very light and resonant and plays great. I'm using it as a backup to my MIA strat for gigs. The only problem is that it frets out from about the 9th fret to the 12th fret on the high E string. All other strings / frets are fine.

Is this a simple fix by a tech or is it something more major? I plan on getting this guitar set-up and it plays great otherwise - just wondering if this is a major issue or somethign that can be fixed with a good setup.

A neck and bridge saddle adjustment might help. Bring it to your local luthier and have him look at it. If it's anything more than a setup or something major then return it MF.

I bet a quick trip to a good tech will have that strat playing a million bucks. Or you could go through some online tutorials and fix it yourself.we are plays here to consult.

I'd bet money a simple setup would make your guitar a great player.

You gotta invest in this book... http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Books,_plans/Building_and_repair:_Guitar,_electric/Guitar_Player_Repair_Guide.html

It'll at least get you on the way to doing most, if not all, of the setup work yourself, and inevitably saving you some serious money (...and time) down the road.

Cool thanks. Played it again last night - plays and sounds awesome - if I could get it to stop frettin out at the 8-10th frets on the high E, its a keeper. Sounds like it can be fixed.

Call Fender and get the name of a local Fender Authorized repair shop and take to to them to fix under warranty.
