Any recommendations would be nice. Thanks Glenn jazzbender October 4th, 2009, 05:56 PM I've heard from some people the the Esteban DVD's are very good for beginners. Before anybody shoots the messenger, this is just hearsay - I haven't actually watched any. Radspin October 4th, 2009, 06:19 PM I like Mel Bay's Mastering the Guitar. Book starts with the basics but gets into more advanced techniques, and it's a good overview of a lot of aspects of playing. I like this book better than Alfred's or some of the other beginner books, and there are versions of the Mel Bay book with a CD or DVD included--very helpful. strat a various October 4th, 2009, 06:20 PM See if there are any YMCA or junior college guitar classes in your area, and pick up a Mel Bay book.
