Busted Kingman

My 14 year old son managed to hit the front of his fender Kingman and bust a small hole, similar to a chip, in the top. It is about 3/8 inch in size and does not go all the way through. However it looks as though it is going to start cracking as there is about a 2 to 3 inch long split starting.

I live down here in the woods and would have to drive an hour, or maybe two, just to get an estimate. I am hoping somebody can look at this photo and tell me a ballpark figure as to what it might run me to get this fixed. I have included a pic for your viewing.

fill the chip and crack with Krazy Glue or Super Glue and it will be fine ... unless you would like to spend real money !!! consider it a beauty mark

I took the guitar to my local luthier and am in pretty good shape. Structural is damage is minimal, no braceing was damaged. The worst part is the crack running toward the rear of the guitar but he believes he can repair that with a sort of internal cleve (sic?). That front crack is only in the finish.

As for repairing the visual damage he believes he can improve that spot. His solution is not going to erase the impact chip completely but should get it into what he called a "beauty mark" type of spot. I have to wait two weeks until he can take it in the shop as he is booked up but that's no biggie. I'll post pics of the repair when I get it back.

Total cost for material and labor... $60.00 (sixty) dollars. What a relief. This guy gets me out of more headaches than bayer or tylenol ever did. Thanks to all helped with the advice here. You guys are great!
