Classic Vibe 50's SCPB and Mike Dirnt mods...I need your opinions!

So I have a Classic Vibe 50's P-bass and a Mike Dirnt Squier P-bass, and I'm thinking of doing some mods to them. My Mike Dirnt has a clear pickguard now that i can put various papers/metals/veneers under to swap out pickguards on a whim, but I think the dark neck is a bit severe once the large black pickguard is gone. My CV P-Bass is nice, but its a bit too similar sounding to the Dirnt (only it hums ) so I was thinking of getting a Gibson Mudbucker pickup (the 4 lead Novak version) and putting it in the bridge position. I think these could be good pickups in the typical musicman slot. Here's a mockup of my idea.

Can anyone suggest a good single coil to pair with this? I'd like to have something a little different sounding in the existing route as well(leaning towards lipstick or rail pickups). Also, the mudbuckers clock in at about 30k...so that means if I put a series/parallel on that pickup, it should be around 7.5k when in parallel, right?

If I do swap necks...I'm thinking the LPB needs a matching headstock though.....

mudbuckers ... gleck. I really, really don't like the sound of those things. YMMV of course.

Long as you're thinking of turning Mr Happy Router loose ...do a Dark Star in the classic P position. Just 1 and you won't need another pickup in there.

See I really don't like mudbuckers much either, but I also hate Musicman pickups in the neck position for the same reason...which is why I think Gibson Mudbuckers would be great pickups for the bridge position.

I'm not a huge fan of Darkstars, they're very big to get a tone that's not much different from what's stock in this bass. I've used some Q-tuners in another bass, but it would be harder to route for them in this one since there's no pickguard to work with for a cover if the paint/wood chip oddly.

I have one of those GFS alnico Music Man copies in Hoss, my Telecaster bass, in roughly the P-Bass pickup position, and am profoundly happy with it...

fralin makes a replacement single coil replacement p/u thay claim eliminates the hums + buzz's. better pots and wiring should help

Try an alumitone strat pickup in the front position. Very Q tunerish without all the adjustability of course.

You're going to need a little "Ooomph" to compete with the output of the mudbucker. A medium-output rails pickup for guitar (yes, GUITAR) will work well there. One of the GFS Li'l Killer's would be perfect.
