I am finishing my amplifier project -30W all tubes
I have a question about reverb driver. I used the 'ultimate tone' circuit that has a 470 ohm cathode resistor for the 12AT7 driving the reverb transformer. Looking at some Fender amp schematics, I noticed that they use a 2.2K cathode resistor, with essentially the same configuration.
I also ran somewhere on the web on a post stating that the 12AT7 reverb driver should not be biased with less than 820 ohms, or it may affect the reverb lifetime. There is plenty of reverb, and I would nor really mind toning it down a bit, so, i will probably go ahead and increase the resistor, but I would like to know if some of you have any knowledge on the subject?
BTW, all-tube amp with spring reverb ROCKS
