Que es mas macho? Silver Creek vs Recording King

A question for the group. What do you think is a better guitar as far as tone and construction? Silver Creek or Recording King? Specifically Silver Creek T 170 vs. Recording King RO 26. I am looking for a well priced nicely toned fingerstyle acoustic with 1 3/4 nut width and 24.9 scale. One where I hear more note than string attack.

it's not unlikely that they are made in the same factory, and may actually be identical ... however, i have no real knowledge of this being the case ... play them both if you can !!!

The T-170 is solid rosewood and the RO-26 is mahogany. As far as I can tell the RO-27 (rosewood) is virtually the same guitar as the T-170. I haven't seen the RKs in person, but looking at the Elderly site pics and comparing it to my T-170 it's identical, except for the HS "inlay" and fretboard dots. The SCs are also virtually the same as the Johnson Carolina II series, no longer sold. All great guitars IMHO (and from various reviews), especially for the price!

Very happy with my T-170, and love the V neck and 1 3/4" nut. Very nice contrast to my thin-necked Blueridge BR-343 with 1 11/16" nut (which I also really enjoy). Also love that I got the T-170 for $199 shipped (SDOTD) :mrgreen: Great volume and tone, and individual strings all stand out well and seem well-balanced. Had to clean up the break points and lower the bone saddle just a bit, but it's all good now.

But again, I believe the RKs and SCs are virtually the same.

Now to confuse the issue further, I'm going to go check out a Seagull Maritime Folk. Solid wood all around and some nice specs including an extra wide 1.8" nut. I've always heard the best recommendations for Seagull. ANy thoughts gentlemen (and ladies if there are any there)?

While I do not know the price point you are looking at, I might humbly suggest you look at some of the GAD-series Guilds. While perhaps at the higher end of the Chinese-made type, they are very nice...the padauk-backed ones have their own voice...don't see how this is a "rosewood-alternative"...which may just speak to you as one did to me. :lol:

I'd be looking at the Recording King ROS-06.
