Good 10" speaker for bass?

Hi guys,

I need a new speaker for my bass amp. A 10" 8 ohm speaker for my trace Elliot Boxer 30. It blew the 50w Celestion that came stock, and now the 70w Jensen Mod that I replaced it with has coil rub, too. I'm running out of ideas.

What do you guys use? I don't usually play bass, so I don't need a high-dollar unit.

except that when you do, you play loud enough to smoke less 'industrial' speaks ... I don't really use stuff in the 30 watt range so tough call for me. The BP102 from Eminence seems to get some love, the Delta 10 (LF model) is strong but maybe too strong for that little amp. Tough call... Might not be a bad idea to off the TE and get a decently sized, more heavy duty amp that can keep up with your Entwhistle'itis when it flares up! A used TNT can get pretty loud and they are tought to kill. Used they won't set you back all that much ...

Good point, there have been a couple of times where it's been the only amp available. Or even after the regular bass player had to leave, and so we had to use it to jam.

I don't play bass much, and really don't want to invest in high dollar bass gear just because noone else will. I'll probably do one more speaker in it before I give up on it totally, and sell my bass, too.

If it's a regular jam thing somewhere safe - like 'Bob's basement' ..., maybe you and the other folks should chip in and snag an old Peavey TNT or similar and just leave it ... Even the regular bass guy might chip in if he doesn't have to carrry. Bass amps aren't always fun to move...

My Wed late afternoon, early evening duo gig, I just play through the house monitors and we keep the volume down.

I bought a pair of the Eminence Legend BP102 speakers, and dig 'em...
