A few years ago a guy I knew bought a pignose g40v, I liked it very much and offered to buy it, no go. Well last week I gave him a ride home from work and he GAVE me this amp. The story: he didn't like the speaker and configuration so he was going to make a head out of it and things intervened. He swears everything works. The problem: the parts are in a rocky boot box. Everything is there except speaker, cool, HOWEVER after looking inside of this thing is it safe to play? I have NEVER seen a pcb so thin or such cheap components. I would like to finish making (a tube up configuration) head out of it. This thing has like 4 hours on it and hasn't been turned on since like 2000. Any suggestions?

Is it a tube amp? If so, remove the tubes...disconnect the speaker, and power it on. CAREFULLY measure the voltages on the tube sockets. You should be able to tell if the thing is going to work or smoke by the voltage readings.

BTW...what is a rocky boot box?

Thanks man I'll try that. Never heard of Rocky boots?, you must not live in hunting/fishing territory, Its just the box the boots came in.
