My Church Rig.

I use a MIM Telecaster [C & W model] with a DigiTech RP155 plugged into the Mixing Board. I like the various sounds available from the processor and my Tele. I own a couple of very nice amps but as another posting in this thread stated some of the great tone gets lost with all the other instruments.
I like a 3 LB. Guitar Amp because I'm in the over 50 crowd.

3 LB Guitar Amp? I'd like to carry one of those around!

I use the church's amps. My instrument is either

Gibson hollowbody
OR
P-bass
OR
MIM Strat (long sweet story some of you have already heard)

depending on what I'm doing that day.

Normally mine's a '69 Thinline RI>ToneLab LE>Mixing Board. The TLLE is currently in the shop, so last week I used a Blackstar HT-DIST unit instead with pretty good results. Beats the heck out of lugging my old 54# Spider II 210 and floorboard. Sounds better too!

Please accept my apology for lack of clarity. I was referring to the DigiTech RP155 as my 3 lb. guitar amp.[actually a preamp.]

Tele >> Jekyll and Hyde >> (NEW) Danelectro Cool Cat Distortion >> H2O for Delay >> Crate Palomino V16 1x12

Been changing things around a bit, had been using the amp on clean and using the Jekyll and Hyde for dirt, trying the amp out with dirt and the Cool Cat for a boost/more dirt, not much volume boost though. Thought about checking out a TC Electronics Nova delay for tap tempo function.

Ahh so much gear out there to play with :-)

I vary depending on how my hands feel and the sound I am going for.

90% of the time it is just my SX STL50>>>P.A. system

10% of the time when I try to play lead it is either:
SX STL50>>>Boss Distortion>>>Line 6 Spider III 15W

or Maestro LP(great sounding guitar for the cheap parts included) instead of the SX.

I know it isn't anything great but the lack of funds and the older members of my church like to smaller rig and simpler sound. The sound board doesn't like not having control over my amp so I don't get to use it alot. oh well I have fun.

Today I played Ibanez Artcore AF75TDGIV > Cool Cat CTO-1 > mixing board. I know it's supposed to be a tube driver, but it sounded great for some crunch. This rig was all wrong - jazz box with flats on it and a tube driver, but it was what I decided to use because the leader's brother had come in from Australia, and they played jazz together back there, so I thought we might be doing some jazzier stuff. I just threw the pedal in in case I needed it and he said he wanted distortion for a couple of tunes so I tried it. I would use one my Squiers normally. We never use amps.

We have a crappy PA, and the Music Director (who seems averse to all contemporary music, and who is certainly unqualified to oversee a modern praise band, which fortunately he does not do-- directly) often will mess with the board to turn people up or down to his "tastes."

As a result of the above, using a pre-amp into a PA would not be good for me. I use a Fender Super Champ XD 1x10 combo as a stage monitor (there are no stage monitors in our system), and line it out into a PA head (not the house PA, a head I brought as part of my rig). A separate channel in the PA head is used for when I play mandolin (I don't need a monitor for mandolin, since it's acoustic-electric, and our stage volume isn't high; plus by using a PA head with separate channels I can set the volume and tone of the mando independently of guitar, and leave the mandolin plugged in so switching instruments is not a hassle). The PA head then feeds into a 1x15 bass cab, which is used because: I wasn't using it on a regular basis and could leave it at church 24/7 (as is true of the PA head); bass cab cuts down on higher frequencies to smooth out tone and minimize volume complaints; and because I use the rig (minus the SC XD monitor) as a bass rig in my side church band with the praise band leader, which usually practices after the praise band. My rig is not mic'd or otherwise in the house PA.

As noted, the PA head and big cab stay at church 24/7. I schlepp the Super Champ XD in for practice on Saturday and usually leave it overnight and then take it home Sunday after the service.

I go with a PRS Santana SE > TU-2 Tuner > Crybaby > TS-9 > Fulton Fuldrive Mosfet ( 10th Ann. Ed.) > Line 6 DL-4 > Marshall VS-100r > Shure 57 > Mixing board.

or Alvarez RD-20SC > Countryman DI > Mixing board

Fender Relic Strat or Tele (Esquire or Nocaster),Boss TU2,Fulltone Fulldrive II,DRRI or Tone King Imperial.

Sometimes if I really want to sound good....;-)....I'll throw the Fulltone SupaTrem in there if not for the trem at least for the nice clean boost it adds.

Get a Tech 21 emulater pedal and plug direct into the board and you'll be very pleased with the results.

American standard Tele w/ vintage noiseless pup's into a POD XT Live into a Radial J48 Active DI

How is the active DI for you? The other guitarist at my church uses my POD XT Live, and we had all sorts of DI problems until we went with the Radial JCI passive. Now all is well. But I wondered if I really should have gotten the active.

Oh, church rig, Tele or strat straight into a Princeton Recording amp (except when I need a specific effect), it's di out to the board. The Princeton's attenuator is set for stage volume. On acoustic, McPherson, Rosewood/Redwood 4.5 to Para-Acoustic DI to board, monitored on the instrument monitors.

When I play bass, Musicman 5-string Bongo Bass into church supplied bass amp.

no complaints. Haven't compared it to a passive Radial, but much clearer than the other DI's that we were using

Same experience with the JCI, and no odd volume problems.

When last I was playing, it was a candy apple red Nashville Tele through my pedalboard (mostly 80's Boss stuff: chorus, flanger, delay, overdrive) into my DIY Marshall 18 Watter clone, with a Weber Mini-MASS attentuator to keep the volume under control.

Gold Schecter PT as backup, or if the other guitarist brought his Strat. If he played a humbucker guitar, I'd play the Nashville. If he bought single coils, I'd use humbuckers.

Super beat up 1978 Gibson RD Custom > EB Volume Jr > Boss Tuner > Fulltone Fulldrive 10th Anniversary > DL4 > Line6 EchoPark > Egnater Rebel 20 (mic'd my Shure 57's or something into the soundboard). Soon I will replace Gibson with G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollowbody and will replace messed up Fulldrive with Lovepedal Kanji 9 and Kanji Distortion stacked nicely together :) Pretty excited for that.

When I was playing in the church band I used a blonde Gibson ES175, simple pedal board with compressor, chorus & digital delay, and ran it into a Lab Series L7. That church ended up having to close down due to real estate issues and when we moved on to another it was standard, old school pipe organist & choir music. I miss the modern P&W music though.
