I know they're heavy. You'll have to come up with something better than that. And don't even try to badmouth Peavey USA, as I already own a T-60, Fury I bass, and a Predator Strat, and bought my daughter a Foundation bass.

Fortunately, all the rock bands I'm in play originals-- so just one set, 45 minutes to an hour, if that.
I play in church too, although seldom on bass, but that's only 3 to 5 songs per service, and I usually get to take the instrument off between songs.
So even though I'll be playing standing, weight isn't an issue.

I actually prefer the bursts and solid colors to the naturals, both on looks and weight (the non-natural finished ones are poplar rather than Northen Ash and usually weigh less), but it's been quite awhile since one has shown up locally.
