Squeaky bender

My P/G bender makes a squeaking sound at the strap lever as I bend and release. What's weird is that even if I manually bend the B string I hear a slight squeak from the same place as I release it. This is even if I'm stting down and not using a strap. Stringbender.com has some excellent info on how to trouble shoot the problem, but I'm all thumbs and tend to destroy things when trying to fix them. So if I just ignore the problem will it cause damage? I can't hear it when I play through my amp so it doesn't really matter.

My old P/G used to squeak at the saddle. I used to use White Lithium grease, then switched the saddles to Graph Tech. It never made a sound again.

If you de-string the B, the outside rows or pickup screws rell remove the bender, plate and all if you want to inspect it.

Are you sure the squeak's not coming from the saddle? That can be deceptive.
Try rubbing pencil-lead on the saddle and you might be pleasantly surprised!

Big Bend's Nut Sauce would work nicely, but those are temporary "Band-Aids". I used my P/G for 11 years as my main guitar once I put the Graph Tech Saddles on, and NEVER heard another squeak!

Thanks for the advice. I found out a couple of things:
1. Noise travels in mysterious ways.
2. I can be a real idiot.

Upon careful examination I found the source of the squeak to be the string tree. So I took the same silicon spray that I lube the saddle with and applied it to the B string where it slides under the tree and the noise went away. At least it wasn't the bender mechanism, but I could have sworn the squeak was coming from inside.
