hi guys just tried to post an add for some effects pedals i want to trade out, but for some reason my listing didnt get posted.....

i first just hit the place ad above main classified screen, and it only gave me two options guitar/amp, then i went to the actual effects catagory thinking they didnt post my ad due to wrong cat. but placing the same ad in the effects section produced the same results, am i not following the instructions right?

I am fairly new to the forum would that have somthing to do with it? am i not "broken in"

if anyone has any insite on what I might have done please help

There is no Trade option for anything but Guitars and Amps. Which is why you only saw those two categories. "Sell" has all the categories available.

If you are uploading photos, my guess is that your photos are huge and this is why your ad is not posting.

But, since there is no "trade" option for pedals, you shouldn't post your ad there at all. If you want to sell your pedals, then try again, only this time, make your photos a reasonable size -- under 100,000 bytes each. No more than 300,000 bytes being uploaded at any one time.

thanks. I placed it as a "sell" ad in effects with a 0 dollar asking for best offer situations, it goes through then just sits on a blank screen....

so I thought i needed to pay something even though it said free classifieds, so I choose the "highlight item" option paid two bucks and when it went to the confirm payment redirect to tdpri from paypal it went idle also...... my ad did get posted albiet no photo, so maybe that was the issue all along, I'm not to experianced placing photos on-line (sorry, call me old fashioned)

what i dont understand is why the ad posted only when i paid money, you would think it would have posted without the photo if there was a size issue since it did that when it was fed some paypal

its only two bucks no big deal, but now i know if it dosnt work its prob the pic, live and learn

Simple answer. One detailed in this forum many times.

Your photos are too large. Make them under 1000 px by 1000 px and less than 100,000 bytes each and don't try to upload more than 2 at a time.

The payment had NOTHING to do with it. It was your photos all along.

What people don't understand is that just because your camera is capable of taking HUGE photos doesn't mean they are appropriate for posting on the web or in an email. You have to edit your photos.

I edited your ad to remove the "hightlight" and refunded your $2.

If you want to add your photos simply edit your existing ad -- just make sure they are properly sized as detailed above.

After you add them to your ad I'll need to approve them for publication, so just notify me via email and I'll do that right away. For some reason, edited ads have to be approved. No other ads do, but I'm not sure why edited ads have this extra step.

thank you for your help, i posted some pics of my newest guitar in the tele disc. forum and didnt have any issues, that was the first time I have ever posted any picture of mine with a computer, i have never edited photos for size before so i just tried to upload with what i had, i apologize for taking up your time to tell me somthing I should have read about first through posted topics, next time i will be more prepared.

when it comes to pic sizes i am ignorant, i have never devoted the time to learn about pixels, resolutions, and 0000x0000 sizes

so please accept my apol. and I will do my best to educate myself better when it comes to future on-line activities.

Yeah, the Classifieds run on totally different software as the forum and even different from the photo gallery. Generally, folks over the years have learned to just make pictures small like they would for emailing and etc. And, if you do that, then it works fine and you don't need to know anything about what the maximum size is.

I wish the program would explain why the photos were not uploading, but it doesn't it just fails with a white screen.

No need to apologize. There's tons of info out there. It's a good thing to learn about photo editing, sizes, resolutions, formats and etc. Comes in very handy.
