Adding Tap tempo

This is my first time to post in the modding forum, but I've been reading for a long time. I've done quite a bit of soldering work, and really would like to add tap tempo to a delay pedal. I'd like to basically take a cheapo Behringer and add tap to it just to get experience.

Is this possible?

I think that is pretty advanced. I do believe it requires some digital circuitry. Some company... it may have been Zvex sold a module for this.
