Hey fellas!
Not sure where to put this thread, so i will probably post a duplicate in the Tele Home-Depot section as well
my question is, by routing/drilling out a hole in the deck of my dobro to fit a strat pickup, will i damage the structural integrity?
thanks alot for your help!

You could get a Johnny Smith style pickup that mounts to the neck. I also think a piezo type pickup might be a better choice for reproducing that throaty dobro sound.

I'm not so fussed about piezo
one of my main motivators is that i actually have two dimarzio strat pickups lying around not doing anything
also i would be playing fairly loud and overdriven, so this may help control feedback

They do that routing at the factory and I guess there's no special reinforcement applied - so I'd say go for it!
it took me some time to put the dremel to my Reso - but once done, it's great
now how on earth did you take that picture from inside of the guitar?

My experience has been that fairly close to the coverplate is the best place to locate the pickup. It will sound more balanced and acoustic there. Resonators are built like tanks, I doubt the routing will make any difference at all to the structural integrity of the instrument.
