USACG has a Webspecial JW Holmes neck as I write this.

In 3 years, I've never seen a JW Holmes make it to the Webspecial page

This is Decidely Larger than a No-Caster neck and evidently costs Tommy much more money to make than the usual necks.

A great opportunity for those of ya'll with really big hands.

Too big for me, I must sadly confess.:oops:

How can this neck cost him much more to make?

He's got to use thicker stock. I think he's gotta use 6/4 stock to make these.

I also think the programming on the CNC is more time consuming. I recall the neck section is actually deeper than the heel is thick.

That's what I seem to remember, talking with Tommy about these.

We talked about doing a batch of 7-10 of them and the numbers did not work. Once we got the thickness of the neck batch down to nominal 1 inch, we easily saw eye to eye on the money.

EDIT: I'm sorry, this JW is a rosewood board; 5/4 would be fine. I had discussed one piece maple with Tommy. A batch of these might be cheaper.
Still, $ 175 is a fairly nice price for a remarkable offering.

if you wanna know what a (maple) J W Holmes neck looks like in finished form, check out Mellecaster's post on M1911's thread about a CS order.

Too late.

Some lucky customer spoke for it.
