My Country Boy is a cannon, and I have found that the Wegen picks are about the best, IMHO. I can play the CB hard with the Wegens and get much more volume than with Ultex/Tortex, TS, cow hoof, Blue Chip, Tortis... What I'm getting at is that over the last 6 months I have tried a lot of picks and for best overall tone and volume, the Wegens are it. Also, they don't cost an arm and a leg.

Plus, the CB can get the most volume out of several dreads that I have either owned or tried, it is also the liveliest dread that I have tried. So, if your up against a banjo, I highly recommend the Bourgeois Country Boy and a Wegen pick

Are you using the Wegen Bluegrass pick?

I use a 1.0mm Wegen pick on my Martin HD-28 and it just crackles with projection, much "snottier" than a Tortex or Ultrem pick. Love it!

Volume is so often a tradeoff with elements of tone - the Wegen isn't as "pretty" a sound as some others, but man it cuts. Ditto for guitars - I've had some really loud acoustics (I'm thinking of a 1934 Martin 000-18 I used to have) that just didn't have a pleasing tone to my ears. Finding that guitar that gets the best balance between the two is the trick IMHO.

No, it's a TF 140 I think, black, triangle shape with holes.
