I had changed the stock speaker with a Celestion Vintage 30.
It made a huge difference.
Then one night while cruising ebay I came across an auction that was offering a mod kit for HRD's.
Price was okay, so I thought, why not?
My tech did it yesterday, and I am awestruck. This is an entirely new amp. The flabby bottom end, the honky mids, the hiss, the extreme volume changes, the unusable overdrive....all GONE.
This amp sounds just like a Fender, with a boutique edge.
Lots of high headroom without the sharp highs.
I tell you I am in love.
If you would like the ebay address
