What is the average life expectancy of a Wah pot?

I have had a Vox Clyde McCoy reissue since 2003 and it is now terminally scratchy even after spraying inside the pot with contact cleaner. Usually one little spray of cleaner does the trick for a few months, but now it gets scratchy again overnight. I had a Dunlop Crybaby years ago that had the same problem after about 4 years of use and I replaced the pot with a cheapie, but ended up selling it anyway.

Do all wah pots just get scratchy over time? I figure it out since I rarely gig and take good care of my equipment. Can anyone suggest a good replacement pot?

On the Fulltone website, it's written that industry-standard lifespan for pots is 15,000 turns. They claim their pots are designed for 500,000 turns.

To answer your question, I suppose that *eventually* they all get scratchy. It happened to my Crybaby, so I took the opportunity to have true-bypassed when I had the pot replaced.

Infinite.

Well, if you have a Morley optical wah...

(OK, the light bulb could burn out, but I have 9 spares.)
