Allan Manship Guitar OwnersManship83 August 10th, 2009, 12:56 PM Just seein if anybody on this forum has one or have owned one. rarebreed July 27th, 2010, 08:16 AM Just found and joined this site yesterday and yes I have one of Allan's guitars. It was originally built for a fellow here in Louisville,KY,I don't want to give out his name, and I got the guitar in a trade.I love it . There have been several try to buy it,but it's not for sale. It is a tri-color sunburst, flame maple neck w/rosewood fretboard,3 EMG p/u's and a B-bender. tony24ford March 14th, 2011, 08:21 PM I actually have one of the first guitars that allan made. he use to name his guitar moe. talked to him today,it was good to talk to him again. Moose Studio March 19th, 2011, 12:20 AM I've played two of them in the studio, but I've never actually owned one. Both were awesome. I'm holding one of them in my profile pic. I would love to own one if I could find one at a good price. jfinester December 18th, 2011, 04:12 AM I have a B-Bender Tele that was made for me by Tom Bremer at Bremer Music Supply in Savage, MN back in '89. It has a Tom Anderson body, back when Tom was still selling parts--alder with a quilted maple top, Byrdland-style binding, in what Tom Bremer called "two-tone orangeburst"--it's actually more like a faded cherry sunburst. The neck was made by Allan Manship--a big fat flame-maple neck with an ebony fingerboard, bursted to match the body. I used to have EMG pickups in it--didn't like them much, and I've had a set of Van Zandts in it for years--much better! (three-pickup "Nashville" Tele setup with a Strat middle pickup). The B-Bender is a Parsons-White installed by Gene Parsons himself. I don't know anything about Allan Manship--can anybody tell me more about him? Tom Bremer told me that he went to work for G&L not long after he made the neck for my guitar, but I've never been able to authenticate that--I do know that it's a really nice neck! old-is-good February 18th, 2012, 08:07 PM I couldn't help but see the thread on Allan Manship guitars. I bought a custom made telecaster guitar in 1989 in Louisville, KY. where I was told it was made by Allan Manship. Of course, those were pre internet days and I had no idea who Mr. Manship was or even if he was a real person or not. All I know is that tele had the best neck I had ever held or seen. Anyway, I bought the guitar and have owned it ever since. Recently, I've been selling off my guitars to pursue other interests. The tele is my last electric guitar and I'm contemplating selling it if I could find a buyer who could appreciate it. I don't have much information on Mr. Manship other than he does or used to live in Paoli, IN. HasBeenPicker August 14th, 2012, 11:16 PM I own this one and cannot find anything that will come close to it. Alan never worked for anyone like G and L...he was an accomplished guitarist and a master wood craftsman. Built over 100 guitars but now relies on his son, since he has a cripling condition that won't allow him to do it himself. Great thing about the Manships is they are good honest people and strive to build the best guitar they possibly can...check this one out! http://manshipguitars.tumblr.com/post/3285150420/another-manship-tele-alder-body-maple-cap G Stoney September 5th, 2012, 08:20 PM I have an Alan Manship Tele. Just got it couple days ago. Kinda feels like it is alive when I hold it to play it, like you can feel the heart put into it when it was crafted. I love the colors and the woods. Has a crystal sustain to it, can be smooth as silk or strut while cluckin. When I can figure out how to upload pics I will post them. Manship83 September 27th, 2012, 02:11 AM Haven't been on here in a while and just read all the posts about my dads guitars. I think its quite awesome. If anybody would wanna contact me or dad you can call 812-653-8543 or 812-653-9140. |
