I'm looking at RomanS' post about the Nobels kit (can I call you "Hat Tipper" Roman?) and wondering - Can an SD-1 be turned into a Nobels OD?

Question for 11Gauge...Reverend_Cheese August 7th, 2009, 01:55 PM I'm looking at RomanS' post about the Nobels kit (can I call you "Hat Tipper" Roman?) and wondering - Can an SD-1 be turned into a Nobels OD? 11 Gauge August 8th, 2009, 08:52 AM Long story short, no. The ODR-1 uses an extra gain stage alone that would be a bit of an extreme makeover to the SD-1. It also uses a "dual tail" HP filter not unlike a Rat, that while not impossible (I just did one to a SD-1 last week), is definitely a bit of reverse engineering. ...There's also add'l tone shaping, hard clippers to ground, and other enhancements that would have your SD-1 chock full of extra componentry and dangling "daughterboards" in no time at all. Reverend_Cheese August 9th, 2009, 03:02 PM I see the kit that Roman built in my near future. Hopefully Brian Wampler's ending his association with Tone Clone won't mean these kits will become unavailable. 11 Gauge August 9th, 2009, 08:40 PM Even if you can't get a board or kit from them, you should be able to find it elsewhere. | ||
