Taking the fairly thick finish off a poly acoustic?

Hey. I have a mahogany topped dread with some great wood. Dunno if there was a mixup at the factory, but this guitar is ALL SOLID, quartersawn neck, whole shebang, and i got it really cheap around Christmas. Sounds great, loud, but the finish bugs me. The whole guitar is glossy, which isn't the worst problem, but the guitar is ORANGE. It's supposed to be tinted to be a red like honduras mahogany, but only a few spots are remotely right. It's really... orange.
Now it's an acoustic, so it's thin and solid wood, i don't think it's feasible to use a heat gun or an orbital sander or anything, so I'm at a loss as how to go about taking the finish off. Suggestions?

I plan to use either a thin shellac, resin-based, and/or oil finish afterward.

Sell it and buy a guitar with one of those awful satin finishes if that's what you want, don't ruin a perfectly good guitar.

I got it for under $0 after all was said and done, and i can't get the quality of wood this guitar has for what i could sell it for.
And i never said satin.
You want pics? i'll take some pics. it's orange, man.

Maybe hand sand it

Start sanding in a hidden area

I would say that your options are:

1. sell it.
2. masking tape on the bridge/neck. sand lightly with fine grit. spray a solid color on. lacquer, sand.

Well, if it's orange, you could put a UT or Bevo deal on it.
