well this may or may not be the proper forum for this BUT....a friend just gave me a prototype Ovation VXT to try out while he fixes my Gibson "the Paul".

the production model of these VXT-s have P-90s. this one has duncan 59's i think. he said he was trying lot's of different pups before it went into production. i'm not much of a humbucker guy and would have MUCH rather tried the p-90 version.
here's a link: http://thevxt.com/blog/?p=6
all the technical stuff is in the link. call this a review if you want but it's really just my personal opinions on this instrument.

it's really light, being a semi-hollow body and i'm not sure if i care for the bumpy finish, but i do think the body is screaming to be pimped out somehow!

the neck plays flwlesly all theway up although the action is slightly higher than i like. i'm sure it could be lowered to my liking. but on the other hand it it a happy medium between my electrics and acoustics! it's weird getting acoustic sounds from an electric guitar! took some getting used to.

the interesting belly cut on the back makes it quite comfy to play.
the coolest thing about this guitar is the Fishman Power Bridge and the Blend knob that controls it. with a Y cable you can run it in stereo(activated by a switch on the back) into an electric guitar amp plus the soundbord or acoustic amp and get any combo of acoustic/ electric sounds.

the mic simulation circuit is VERY impressive. my acoustic amp is loaded in the van so i can't try it through my acoustic rig till saturday but i plugged it into my Tubeworks 1x12 combo and was able to get a VERY realistc acoustic sound. i haven't taken the cover off the back yet but my friend says it's pretty cool under there. i'm thinking "Westworld" when the cover comes off Yul Brenners face!

all in all i like this guitar but would like to try the P-90 version. don't know if i could handle the $1900 pricetag either.

took a bunch of pix. for some reason these are the only ones that would upload!

I played a 2007 model last week just after my local shop put it on eBay.
It was love at first lick!
Wonderful action up and down the neck, very light, around 6 pounds.
Great sound in either mode from the Duncan 59's and the Fishman bridge pick up in acoustic mode.
I should have bit on it, it went for less than $450 US.
I't my new "holy grail"!
