50's Road Worn Stratocaster Clubelectrablue July 28th, 2009, 09:54 AM I know there is a tele thread so I'm starting a thread for the stratocaster. Mine's the black 50's RW. Got it back in June. olaftheholy July 30th, 2009, 10:17 AM I made this one myself out of a MiM '09 LPB classic player... Modeled after the Roadworn oly white RW strat... http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg12/olaftheholy/IMG_7523.jpg Twas my goto guitar for a long time, now it's gathering dust sincethe family of tele's is rapidly expanding... Sargeslide August 3rd, 2009, 12:00 PM Got a black one too! I changed the pickguard to black and added a bridge pickup switch, now I have a David Gilmour replica fer 900$!!!!!!! Great GIt, gonna get a tele too Carzee August 3rd, 2009, 08:17 PM I got the Road Worn 54 clone, 2 tone sunburst. Great tone, I got a second set of RW Strat pickups for the nitro Strat we've got underway -very retro Fiesta Red. That one was after watching youtube etc of Hubert Sumlin. 1. If the Fender suits had given the tick to a RW 50s in Fiesta Red i coulda saved some money! 2. If the Fender suits had given the tick to a LEFTY RW Strat in Lake Placid Blue I coulda saved some money! Both the lefty and the fiesta red we're assembling are using HWY1 bodies and aftermarket necks, bridges etc -Christmas gifts to my twin boys. One likes reds, one blues. One RH, one LH. I'll find a pic of the RW 50s we have. Carzee August 3rd, 2009, 08:49 PM Here tis, my Road Worn Strat.. http://www.camerajuice.com/rw/jpg/carzee-RW-54-front.jpg http://www.camerajuice.com/rw/jpg/carzee-RW-54-back.jpg Tele-Champ August 20th, 2009, 11:28 PM Here tis, my Road Worn Strat.. http://www.camerajuice.com/rw/jpg/carzee-RW-54-front.jpg http://www.camerajuice.com/rw/jpg/carzee-RW-54-back.jpg Well, how about a 60's Road Worn strat?... http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww183/telechamp/ChampRWStratPB.jpg http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww183/telechamp/RWstratPB.jpg dannyboy2.0 August 21st, 2009, 04:07 PM Finally played a 50s RW last weekend, now I am seriously thinking of selling my Jeff Beck Strat to fund the RW! The one I tried sure impressed me - didnt even have to plug it in! Just have to decide between black or sunburst... ;-) Dan JIMT January 26th, 2010, 03:59 PM I have really been looking into changing the trem and/or block. Anyone else feeling the need to do this? I'm also thinking about a graphite nut. Kyle Ashley January 29th, 2010, 11:31 PM Does anyone know if the mounting spacing for the bridges on these is 2 1/16 like other MIMs? Blankfield January 30th, 2010, 11:09 AM Here tis, my Road Worn Strat.. http://www.camerajuice.com/rw/jpg/carzee-RW-54-front.jpg Carzee, I have been looking at a 50s style RW strat for a while and your's is the first that potentially answers a question I've had about them. I always wondered if the worn areas of the fretboard would stay really light (like they are when new) or if they would actually show some darkening after play. I am assuming these areas on your guitar were light when new and have darkened with play. Can you confirm or deny? Thanks and she's a beaut! Kyle Ashley January 30th, 2010, 01:10 PM Does anyone know if the mounting spacing for the bridges on these is 2 1/16 like other MIMs? I received my answer in another forum. RW is 2 7/32" jkats August 25th, 2010, 10:32 AM I'm in --2008 black RW Strat. 6.5 pounds and great neck, even if the relicling is way overdone (I might have to do something about that). Basically, I bought it in spite of the relic finish, because it played and sounded great (and because the price was right). Interestingly, I tried replacing the Tex Mex pickups with 57/62s and wound up immediately putting the Tex Mex back -- they just sound "right" in that guitar. I may upgrade the bridge to a Fender AVRI reissue one though, to get the full-length saddles. |
