Went to the McMaster site as recommend in a post on page 12. Got this far:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#extension-springs/=2x9cc4
any clue on exactly what I should order?
My spring is loose enough that if I stand with a strap it actuates...any slight movement and i have to keep retuning the B string. I really need it tightened and would like to have a standby spring or two if I cut too much off mine.
So if someone here could check out the above page I would like a recommendation on what to order...this as a few of you have actually ordered springs before.

The "too loose" comment makes me think that its the Parsons Greene. I have one from '96 and also had one from '06 for a while. Both of these had the too loose problem. It is very easy to get accidental bends, and as you said, even the body weight slightly sharpend the string.
I cut one loop at a time off of the 96. One loop was better, but still not what I wanted. I cut off and bent over one more time. It is a HUGE improvement.
I played the guitar for 11 years as my main guitar, and added the 06 later for a while as a second guitar when I was playing a lot.
On the 06, I imediately cut 2 loops off and bent over the next. For my tastes, two loops did the trick.
As for the spare spring, I got one through Fender ten years ago, and its never been needed. It sits in the case. Hipshot will have the spring too.

Thanks for the info....yea, just caught on that Hipshot picked up the manufacturing rights.
I read that Parsons did not have any parts...Guess I will try cutting the spring - just need to find a spring puller because the last time I was yanking on that thing it was with vice-grips and I need a third hand to get the job done.

For my Parsons-White, I went to Lowes..I took the original spring for comparison and I bought a 3 that were about the same diameter, and same gauge wire, but shorter...One of them worked just fine....cost me about $10. I expect you could do the same thing with a P-G bender...Lowes had alot of springs, different sizes, diameters, etc...

I was delighted with the improvement that cutting two loops gave me. You can try one if you chooe, but I'll bet you later do two. Like I said I did two of them, and two loops was a HUGE inprovement.
