Jeff Beck Truth Wah WahSixShooter July 15th, 2009, 02:01 PM What type of Wah Wah does Jeff Beck use on the Truth album in particular I Ain't Superstitious? It sounds fabulous! fezz parka July 15th, 2009, 04:25 PM Colorsound. garymaddox July 15th, 2009, 06:16 PM The Colorsound was his fuzz pedal from the Yardbirds era if I am not mistake. I think he favored the Vox Wah pedal for Jeff Beck Group era. I saw him on his first tour! SixShooter July 16th, 2009, 12:55 AM From what I read the Colorsound was a wah pedal. Obviously they are not around any more. Is there anything on the market that sounds similar or was it perhaps Beck's technique that makes it sound so good? fezz parka July 16th, 2009, 05:45 PM The Solasound Colorsound was a wah pedal. There's a reissue out there now. The originals fetch big bucks. The buzzbox he used with the Yardbirds I believe was a Vox Tonebender. garymaddox July 17th, 2009, 12:34 PM I forget where exactly I got the idea he used a Vox wah on Truth but I did find this with a quick search: http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/Features/the-accidental-birth-of-the-wa/ I owned one of the original Vox wah's and it sounded right. I was just getting serious about playing an electric guitar when Truth came out. It's possible I picked up the Vox because equipment was much harder to come by back then. JohnnyCrash July 17th, 2009, 05:38 PM You can build yourself a clone of the Colorsound into a Crybaby/Vox case, or possibly mod a Crybaby/Vox to the old Colorsound specs. Wah's are VERY basic effects to build/mod. Here's a schematic of the Colorsound wah: http://www.fortunecity.com/tinpan/humperdinck/223/colwha.gif MickM July 17th, 2009, 05:45 PM I just clicked that link and got a bunch of "THIS IS AN ATTACK SITE" warnings. garymaddox July 17th, 2009, 06:08 PM I just clicked that link and got a bunch of "THIS IS AN ATTACK SITE" warnings. It's Gibson Guitar's website. I'll try my link again but I don't think there's a problem. | ||
