New "lead" O/D - GGG MGV or Rodent??

I'm looking for a new OD/Dist box that will handle the lead duties on my board. My light crunch needs are served well by my modded SD-1 (thanks, 011 Gauge !!!), but my lead pedals aren't getting it for me. I've been using either a BD-2 (with Allums H2O mods) or a stock MXR Dist III.

Anyway, I'm thinking that JD's MGV (Marshall Guv'nor) or Rodent (Rat clone) would do the job. I'm leaning toward the MGV because of the more extensive tone stack. It will be run into a clean amp (either tube or ss, depending on the gig and my mood). My main guitar is an AmStd Tele. I'm not looking for a scooped metal tone, but something more smooth and fluid.

Anyone using either of these?

For what it's worth, because I don't own either one at this point, I'd go Guv'nor.

I've owned both at one point or another. I couldn't return the Rat fast enough. It just seems muddy and somehow "faker" to me.

I bonded with the Gov'nor + quite a bit. It's a little different than the vintage design that GGG is using, but based on my brief exposure to the vintage version, and the Danelectro Daddy-O OD, which is pretty much a copy as well, I'm in the Guv'nor camp.

I'm actually thinking about a Guv'nor build myself - amongst about 7,000 other projects.. Best of luck!
