Who loves their polytone?jazztele July 9th, 2009, 10:52 PM might be a shot in the dark here, but i love 'em... KCKC July 9th, 2009, 11:17 PM I have a minibrute iv, bought it in 1992. Use it for guit and bass, never had a problem except for one fuse replacement. Just wish I could get a little more "low end" when using my bass. Love the sound, great power for my needs and is pretty light/compact! KC wangdangdoodle July 10th, 2009, 08:51 AM I love em... they are usually the house amp at one of my Jazz gig, and I can beautiful dark sounds. Wish I had one of my own. Scott M July 11th, 2009, 03:45 PM +1 For about 20 years, I have used one for everything - Jazz, rock, funk, country. My pedal board is bigger than the amp. For jazz, just bring a cord. thepassivevoice July 12th, 2009, 05:38 AM Are you guys using Polytone's with Teles? Any sound clips? Bonehaid July 12th, 2009, 07:35 AM Had a Mini Brute 2 for years-one of the early ones-a really pure tone-wish I had it back. jazztele July 12th, 2009, 12:17 PM Are you guys using Polytone's with Teles? Any sound clips? http://www.ezfolk.com/audio/bands/1011 hit the "songs" tab-- darn that dream and quiet room are tele thru polytone. and yes, single coil pickups. Scott M July 13th, 2009, 12:06 PM I use a strat. Probably not what you are looking for, but single coils... Thanks. Very nice. Sounds kind of like Ted Greene. Just by comparison, was Stella by Starlight also a Tele? thepassivevoice July 15th, 2009, 12:53 PM I use a strat. Probably not what you are looking for, but single coils... Great playing. On the first clip (Cantaloupe Is), did you cut the treble with the tone control on the guitar, or is the Polytone doing that? Scott M July 15th, 2009, 01:44 PM Thanks. I think it is position four on the switch with the tone rolled way back - maybe all the way. That is pretty typical of my settings for that style. The intent of that video was a sound check for the built in mic in a Macbook Pro, so I don't remember for sure. -Scott jazztele July 15th, 2009, 10:36 PM Thanks. Very nice. Sounds kind of like Ted Greene. Just by comparison, was Stella by Starlight also a Tele? yes, stella's tele too--humbucker though (an MIM '72 custom), recorded thru a blues junior. catar July 19th, 2009, 12:51 PM Still got my 85 polytone and it sounds great Scott M July 26th, 2009, 03:29 PM Just got a new reverb tank. One of the springs had broken. That and a new AC power chord, and I should be good for another 100,000 miles. -Scott M | ||
