I can't believe nobody's started one. I guess they're too busy playing 'em. I like one but at the moment, funds are short so I'll be satisfied just for now looking at pics and hearing stories. Originals, CS, etc...

I guess I'll jump in here. I'm surprised no one's posted yet. Mine's an '06 NOS I picked up for $1500 back in Oct. 08. I rewired it to the "modern" wiring to make switching a little less tedious onstage. Great sounding, light guitar and I love the big neck. All my other guitars, are unfortunately, drawing dust, though.

I've got a '08 Lake Placid Blue Nocaster NOS...but with a 9.5 radius. I did originally buy a Butterscotch one but the shop dropped it and took a big ding of paint off. Anyway, I bought the blue one for a good/ end of line clearance price.

There's a pic of it on my profile.

I've had my NOS for quite a few years, It's had a few customs, and some of them returned to stock. Sometimes sports a hipshot B-Bender.

It's an awesome guitar. Nothing else to say.

First of all, hi to everyone!

Nocaster's my dream guitar. I'm not currently a member, but hoping to be very soon

Can somebody tell what's the, let's say, average price of used nocasters? I'm going to Toronto this summer and I'm planning to get back to Europe with Fender Nocaster so I'm calculating how much money I need

Thank you very much!

Have $ 1800 available - you may be able to find one for less.

I think Thaus' $ 1,000 (CAN) buy was the steal of the century. Very impressive deal. You're likely to pay $ 1,600- $ 1,700 I would say.

Wow. Most of the ones I've seen @ stores and on ebay are more in the $2000.00+ range. I've seen '95 and '96 Cunetto's going for over 4K!

Good luck finding one for $1000.00! (I mean that sincerly, not sarcasticly)

Ive got a Nocaster relic myself and Ive went and place a Custom Shop twisted Tele pickup in the neck position with a modern wiring set up and Ive made it a better guitar .

I had a original Fender 1952 and this Nocaster is every bit as good as that guitar was and the 52 I sold it .

The twisted Tele pickup has given a great guitar a added dimension but to be honest Ive been playing my Gibson ES 335 50th Anniversary just about all the time for the last 2 years

Trouble Ive got myself into here

Yeah, your reply has gotten some silence but there's some real respect here for a nicely fettled ES 335 as well. Those can be real decent.

How does she compare, to the others you have played?

Did she end up costing more, or less, than the usual nice used one?

Are there some import fees, etc., you do not owe when you ship in pieces as opposed to a whole guitar, in Aruba?

Looks just like mine, except the neck is darker. Nice.

ArminSolo
May 21st, 2011, 11:33 AM
Boris, it was not my intention to bypass duties. They are the same anyway for parts or for a completed guitar.

It did cost more to put this together compared to buying a Nocaster, but it was just something I had to do.

In the end, it's a super lightweight, great sounding guitar.

I have no ability to post a pic right now but mine is a 2003 Closet Classic which I've retired from gigging service now. The modded "Nashcaster" is it's stand in.

The only non-stock item on the Nocaster is the neck. I wasn't enthused about that thick "U" neck so our other guitarist and I swapped the necks from his 52RI which had the soft "V" neck I prefer. I love playing it but I just don't like taking it out to gig anymore but it's by far the nicest Tele I own.

Here's my Dave's Special Order '52 Tele Relic which boils down to a Nocaster.
The only differences are frets (not quite med. jumbo, like a short 6105), and radius (9.5) and without neck lip.
Body is otherwise identical and it sure is a Nocaster neck.

My Nocaster:
NOS Masterbuilder Yuriy Shishkov.
One piece rosewood neck, 0.95 inch at first, 1.00 at 12 fret, 9.5 radius.
Two pieces (Gtr Ash and Bass Ash) body.
Abby Ybarra hand wounded Nocaster pickups.
Crafted August, 2011.
Weights 6.6 lbs.

Here are better pics of mine. I think it was originally sold by Wildwood. It's 9.5 radius, and came with a humbucker.
I think the original owner put in a different humbucker and must not have been happy with it because when I got it the Humbucker sounded great, but the bridge pup was extremely shrill. I got it for a very low price for a Nocaster.
Finally got the wiring so both the humbucker and nocaster bridge pup both sound great.

Wow! Best playing guitar I've ever owned. Also the lightest. I played one at GC and didn't like it,figured it wasn't setup, had little girl strings and they don't have a tweed amp on the floor there.I took a gamble on ebay. After some real strings and a set up ( the guy had the intonation way off) It plays itself. Louder from the back then the front acoustic. I'll never sell!

Had my Nocaster 51 Relic for about a month now - absolutely loving it! My other Teles haven't had a look in since and any other neck I play now just feels puny! Mines a 2009 with 9.5 radius, med jumbo frets and 4 way switch. Weighs in a 7.1 pounds.

I'm the proud new owner of a 2008 Nocaster Relic. I love it! I haven't been able to even take my hands off it long enough to take it to the shop to get set up. What an incredible guitar. It sounds, feels and looks like the real thing (which I've played, my cousin in law has, well not a Nocaster, but a 52 Tele).

I recently picked up a 2010 NOS. It rings like a bell! I've owned several Fenders and none worked for me, but it was just a matter of learning what was available. I like big necks and 1.65 or large nuts so seems like someone should have said, "NOCASTER!" to me before now. I wish they had. Mine has nocaster pups and vintage wiring. My Lentz T has modern wiring so this is a welcome change and very cool.

Quick pic is all I have for the moment:

I lean toward maple neck on ash,but love Rosey boards on pine.

Also,Leo wasn't thinking"re-fret" with these bolt on guitars, more so,"re-neck"....so,pretend your maple neck got worn out and it was replaced with what you have.

OMG ..... so much eye candy! Simply amazing!

At long last, the wait is over. Perhaps I can now stop ogling and finally join this illustrious group - or can I? I haven't mortgaged the ranch (if only I had a ranch to mortgage) so that I could go out buy myself a genuine NoCaster, but I did find myself fondling and drooling over a fine looking 'replica' of a real one at my local dealers a few days ago.

After a couple of sleepless nights and much lengthy consideration on how I was possibly going to make this happen, I finally took the plunge. I mean this thing is probably as close as I will ever get to hearing and 'feeling' the sound of a real NoCaster. Others may have had a different experience ..... but to me, this thing goes way beyond any expectations I may previously have had.

OK, what did I buy? It's an '09 Limited Edition NoCaster, and I am its first owner. Beautifully 'bashed up', and looking just as Keef would expect, and well ... what to say? I just love it.

I sincerely hope this will entitle me join the rest of you extremely lucky folks in the 'NoCaster' (reissue branch) owners' club.

And now, please allow me to share a few compulsory(?) photos .....
