Guild Guitar Amplifiers

OK, I'll start this one off...any Guild owners here?

I have a (1963?) Guild 66-J that I purchased out of an ad in the old Boston Globe "Marketbasket," when that was THE place to buy used gear...its a mere shadow of its former self today, with virtually no muscial equipment...but I digress...

Mine is a 5Y3/6V6/6V6/12AX7 X 3 tube circuit topology, with only 1/2 of a 12AX7 providing preamp gain, so its a pretty clean sounding amp. Makes sense, as Guild was all about jazzers back then. I used this through my entire "professional" career in high school bands and then in our college stage band. Always cut through just as it needed to, though I should say that like John Lennon I was a "rhythm-er"...

I had thought it a 15 watt amp, however the internet now shows me it was really 20 watts...not unlike a Fender Deluxe I guess...so thats why it always cut through!

I have the original Jensen blue P12 (er, can't remember the last letter!), although in the late 60's I replaced that with a Radio Schack/Jensen C12N...still have that too. As of this moment, she is operating with a Weber Signature Series 12, which really suits her.

OK, so I have bared my soul, lets hear about YOUR Guild amps...

i've got a super beat-up Guild, I think it might also be a 66-T. I got the electronics overhauled after I bought it, but the cabinets too beat to gig with as is. Amp sounds marvelous though. It's got an opto-trem circuit which sounds luscious.

Yours is clearly older than mine, love the two-tone with the offset speaker opening...

Your control panel seems to be laid out different than mine though, what I can see of it...what is the tube layout?

Looks to be: 12ax7, 12ax7, 12at7, 6v6, 6v6, 5y3

Oh, man...

I used to have a Maverick with two 10's.

Wish I still had it.

I've got a great sounding 1969 Guild Superstar. It's 100 watts of pure tonal bliss.

It's got...

(4) 12AX7/7025 in preamp
(1) 6GW8 in preamp for the reverb
(2) 6L6 in the power amp
(1) Unknown in power amp
1x15 speaker

It's in pretty good shape...original tolex and grill cloth, missing the handle and the spring reverb has been replaced with a new Accutronics module. I don't know if the tubes are original or good replacements, but they're vintage RCA.

I'm planning on taking it in to get new caps and have it biased soon.
