Opinions on Bogner amps anyone?

Hi Friends!

I am thinking about/getting ready to look at my next amp upgrade. I currently have a VOX AD50VT and a 15watt Super Champ XD to play through, and I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on Bogner amps... One of my favorite bands plays through em, and I am hooked on their sound. They are quite expensive, but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience or opinions with/about them... especially with Telecasters, seeing as my main guitar is a Highway One.

I guess I need an excuse to go to GC, or any music shop for that matter. I feel like I have a pretty good set up... but there is always room for improvement.

Thanks alot!
Aubrey

I'm not really a high gain guy - which I think is what they're known for.

But. The shiva is pretty cool - nice cleans and very nice Marshallesque overdriven tones. Worth checking out.

The Duende was really cool too - totally different vibe. Thick, organic, saggy/ tube rectifier compression (not sure if it is - but sounds that way). Ok, Bogner's not just a one trick pony.

So yeah, I like some of his amps, and I didn't really think I would. Very limited experience here - but again, was impressed with what I tried, even though I didn't think they would be to my taste.

He also has a less expensive (Chinese?) made line too. No idea how they sound, how reliable they are, what the QC is like etc etc. But, for the budget conscious - I think they're out there?

Cheers,
Geoff

I'm playing through a Shiva 2x12 at the moment, the one with 6L6 valves which give it more of a Fender sound. It is a lovely warm sounding amp that puts a smile on my face every time I turn it up. I looked at the Mesa Lonestar, but the Bogner is superb.

The Bogner website used to have a load of sound clips that I found very helpful.

Nick

Yes and you could put five other bands beside them useing the same gear and they would all sound different. How many times does it have to be said here it is the player that makes the difference in sound wether it be amps or guitars every one sounds different and that shows up in their equipment.

There seems to be a few Teles being played on the Bogner video page.

My buddy Phil who works at Valley Arts/Gibson has a plexi that Bogner modded and told him "is better than Eddie's." It is a truly astounding beast of an amp. Reinhold gets lots of respect. His little combos like the Duende and Metropolis are really flexible amps.

I've played through the Alchemist and it does more than just high gain. Lots of usable tones, clean and with a little hair as well IMHO.

Give one a try (before you buy).

I know that John Fogerty uses Shiva with Reverb in concert and pretty good amp. Just the price tag is high.

The Metropolis is sort of their take on a Matchless, great sound, nothing high gain about it.
