Awww, can't let you be alone down here..

Not sure what the point the this section really is, but:

I have a Laney VC30-112 from about 1995/96, when they were still advertised in magzines and so on. Bought it new. I think Hoshino (Ibanez)
was the marketer in the Us at that time.

I bought this particularly for my acoustic (J-30 with p'up), and was better sounding than the Laney acoustic amps in the store. Perhaps a year or so in, I had a problem where the amp seemed to be playing at full volume all the time. Local tech replaced the volume pot and resoldered some of the surface mount components, and when I got it back it was literally twice as loud!

Still have it, haven't played it much over the past few months, but it is a keeper. Great reverb, and has the "thunk" that I remember from Fender amsp of my youth. The speaker is the H/H that they came with then and it is great, no desire to change it. Only other thing I have done is change out the Sovtek tubes for some NOS Amperex 12AX7's and a quartet of JJ El84's...not because I have to, just playing around.

This amp LOVES tele's.

HI there, I picked up a new vc30 212 about 3 weeks ago. I've played 3 gigs and I absolutely love it. Clean is warm and crystal clear, drive just crunches it up a bit. I play a rhythm on Baja Telecaster in pretty loud pub band, and this new combo just fills the sound effortlessly and beautifully.

Slightly confused about the speakers, Laney site says it has two 35 watt Celestions, whereas it has two Celestion 70 Eightys which I think are rated at 80watts each, which seems overkill for a 30 watt amp. Sound great to me.

Had a VC30-210. Great amp, but it ended up too loud for my needs sadly. I hated selling it but it financed my 68 BFPR. Loved it with Fenders, not so much with my Gibsons with humbuckers.

I just got my VC30 2x10.

I run a lot of pedals into it and it still sounds great. I'm really excited to replace the tubes on this and wouldn't even know where to begin.

I wouldnt rush to change anything. My unchanged VC30 2x12 sounds great

I bought my VC30-112 new in the mid to late 90's. At the time, they came with Sovtek power and preamp tubes...even advertised the same like it was a big deal!

Eventually, I changed out one or more of the preamp tubes to NOS Amphenol 7025 (I had stumbled upon a cache that I bought), and though I felt better about the amp, the sound change was very subtle if noticable at all. I later changed out the power tubes to J/J's and it was the same thing, a very minor difference if any at all.

While it is always good to have some tubes on hand in case of failure, I am sure you will be able to play her for a while before anything is necessary.

In retrospect, I worked out that if they were making a big thing about Sovtek tubes, then the circuit was probably tailored with that component in mind.

The best thing to do with a Laney VC30 is sell it and get a Peavey Classic or Delta Blues. I have a brand new VC30 and it has been nothing but trouble and has cost me wads of cash, time and patience also. I'm just trying to find a very tall building from which to hurl the VC30 just to see it in bits. The older ones were probably better made but the new ones are naff. I bought a Peavey Delta Blues as its replacement and have never looked back.

Wow that's a shame. What kind of problems did you have, aren't they covered by the 3 year guarantee?

Got me worried now, but touch wood I'm about 10 gigs into mine and still going strong and sounding great

I've got a VC15 110 which I love the sound of however, I bought it new in summer 2007 and since then I've had to send it back twice to Laney to have the channel swtich fixed and now it pops every time I change channel. The reverb has also stopped working now!

7 or 8 years ago I bought the VC30-210.
I thought it was a good amp just a little too trebely for me but I kept it for a year or so. then it started to do this VERY high pitch squeel thing. I took it for warranty repair and it came back with the same squeel just a little lower in the volumn. I took it back for more warranty repai and it came back with the squeel super loud as before the first "repair". I traded it to a guy for a 1995 usa standard tele and some cash. I told him and demonstrated the squeel. He was okay with it and wanted it any way. I bought the Laney 1x12 extension casb. I still have that. All three speakers were HH invaders. I like the speakers so much I found a pair of 12 inch HH invaders and put them in the amp of my 1973 Fender Rhodes Electric Piano. I just sold that piano. I still have my Laney GC50A Solid state acoustic amp. its a 1x12 and a tweeter and its a great amp also with an HH in it.
