thats what we are here for man!
Socrates67 July 29th, 2009, 02:54 AM Here's my JS Telecaster (purchased April, 2008). It also came with the stencil, sticker, and art-work package. Love the neck; plays like a dream. It's a bit on the heavy side, however, and I'm somewhat whelmed by the pickups, but I'll be replacing them soon. All in all, very happy with my Joe Strummer tele.

MPatt November 9th, 2009, 06:37 PM Bought mine Saturday in Montreal at Steve's Music. Not one of the first 1,500 but one that just sang to me in my hands. 5 minutes after walking out of the store, carrying my new tele in the case, I passed Derek Trucks on the street - he had a show in Montreal that night. He noticed that I was carrying a guitar, smiled and nodded - and at that point I knew the Guitar Gods had blessed my purchase - even though it wasn't an SG!
I love the feel and look of my new baby and have no patience for those on other forum threads who dis the guitar as a "posers" guitar - I am 46 years old and don't expect to authentically relic any guitar with use and abuse over the nest 20-30 years.
Also, for the record, I love Joe's Mescalaros' stuff as much as The Clash era and I don't know what he was playing in that era anyway.
Finally, if anyone is paying closer attention to the look of what I am playing rather than the music I am playing - I better play better - so they focus on the music!
Cheers!

very cool story on your purchase...and when you play a guitar how much are you looking at it...sure if its going to be a wall hanger to be looked at this wouldnt be my first choice of decoration...the meccalaros stuff is really cool music
MPatt November 16th, 2009, 07:58 PM my sentiments exactly. Perhaps one day when I can afford to buy guitars for just their looks, and have the time to sit and stare at them, then I'll consider the visual aesthetic more closely - but for now its all about the sound and playability....
Pappy November 16th, 2009, 08:29 PM Though not as detailed as the other tribute models (or nearly as expensive) they're still really cool looking and a YouTube search shows videos of folks getting great tones from them and their necks are wicked comfortable.
Add it all together and you get a great guitar regardless of who's it's based on.
HappyTelecaster November 16th, 2009, 08:32 PM But why forget about the aesthetic aspect? IMHO the Telecaster design is one of a kind - a timeless classic. No matter in what colour or finish they come along - the Beauty lies within the Simplicity!
And I must admit that by now I have gotten used to the Heavy Relic look of my Joe Strummer Tele. The rust upon the Hardware is worrying me a bit - will it shorten the Life of these parts? I don`t know yet. And I also have no idea how to clean the guitar`s hardware without destroying the patina. I don`t want to get the parts back to their polished chrome look, but I don`t want my guitar to become plastered in dirt and grime either.
I know that one day when the frets are worn down I`m gonna bring it to a Luthier and let him restore it - just like Philippe Dubreuille (is this the right spelling?) did with Wilko Johnson`s Tele.
