Tele lacquers

Hello there

I've got a question about lacquers - I'm building a baritone-Tele and everything works great so far but now I've got that color-problem

I'd like to have it in metallic grey or in vintage white - now I've found the guitar-reranch store and also a store in the UK that is selling such colors, but I am from Switzerland and I think it's not possible to ship nitro-lacquers outside of these countries...

Has someone an Idea where to get these colors without shipping restrictions or an alternative (I don't have a problem with acrylic lacquer as long as I can spray it -> I have a spraygun and cans are also ok)

Hey,

Reranch will not ship outside U.S. thast is for rattlecans.
Normal tins of laquer will be shipped no problem.
I buy trendy colorline nitro rattlecans over here in the Netherlands in Gamma (home depot) they carry clear and primers as well
They have all the colors you want, only it's not the Fender customcolor reranch sells (altough i can't see the differencer ;o) ]

F.y.i. Fender vintage white is actually olympic white with a clear coat over it that discolours after a while..
Reranch does sell a readymade vintage white/cream color.
As for silver, just buy at the automotive shop and spray with that, clear it with nitro and you the man!

They haven't had nitro-lacquer, I took a normal waterbased lacquer for the cream-finish... Now I applied one coat on a piece left from the build, looks ok, but I've got to check it with clear nitro-lacquer over it

Talk to somebody in the automotive refinishing business and tell them what you are trying to do.

Somebody can probably hook you up with the base coat color of your choice and tell you if it will be okay under nitro-type lacquer.

Those guys are always looking for adventure!

Well I don't think the automotive refinishers here are the same than in the states. The Swiss people are correct... I made some good and some bad experiences when I was collecting stuff for building guitars.

But there are two refinishing shops for cars here, I'll check them

I've never gotten these ideas, I had a fixed view on guitar lacquers - that's why I got that behlen instrument lacquer to finish my guitars... And than I ordered @stewmac the waterbased finish and black pigments, that worked fine but I prefer nitro, somehow easier to apply - and you smell what you're doing :-)
