You've not given me enough info. I have not idea where you are trying to upload to. Is is classifieds? Or the Gallery? Or as an attachment within a thread?

And, I will need to know the size of the photo, both in Pixels and bytes.

All forums set these sizes individually, there is no one set of sizes determined for photos that are being uploaded.

Hey, thanks for getting back. i was trying to attach photos to a thread. i followed the direction from another here in this forum. upload it through the gallery link here or wherever i can get a url. then highlight the url and attach it to the thread. but i still wasn't having any luck. i think my photos may be too large. i've got sony cyber-shot and i'm not sure about the pixels n bytes, but i'll check it out with someone around here who can show me how to find this kind of stuff.
any help is appreciated. i'll find the photo size n get back

OK, tell me where it's failing. At the upload to the Gallery or the insertion in a post? Your description of your problems leaves this unanswered.

Are your photos showing in the Gallery?

It's possible you're not coping the URL correctly, or you are trying to post HTML. There can be many reasons it's not working. So, to help you I need even more info.

thanks again, it's failing at the upload to the gallery. the 1st time i just tried uploading to the main gallery and then i tried numerous attempts at specificly to the stratocaster gallery.
the properties folder on one of the pictures says that is a JPEG Image and the size is 2.71 MB (2,843,775 bytes)

Oh, only 2.8 MEGs. Well, that's not bad. That's only, what, a 100 times larger than the maximum size you can upload here.

Your camera is capable of taking photos that will be printed out as 8 by 10s. Unless you learn to edit photos to a reasonable size you will have nothing but failures when you try to use them online.

I know you said, "but it's the same as i upload on any other site or email,". No sir, that's not true. 2.8 megs is way past the PHP Upload limit on all forum and blog servers. It may work at photobucket, but that's a different thing entirely. And the vast majority of email systems will reject anything over 1 or 2 megs as well.

Make your photo under 1600 px by 1600 px and make is less than 300,000 kb and you'll do fine uploading here -- untill you reach your 5 meg limit and then it will stop working because you are only allowed 5 megs here.
