Hi,

does anybody already use Strat Pups in a Tele , in particular in the neck position ? They do not seem to fit as the distance between the pole pieces is not the same as for a Tele...

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I was totally thinking about this earlier today. I was thinking of all the cool combinations one could have in a tele.
I really like the neck pup and the neck/middle on the stratocaster - I also really like the tele bridge.

This got me thinking - tele bridge pup on a strat? that could be very cool. like with the bridge and all - maybe even still with a tele neck. I don't think I'd find myself in the middle/bridge position too often though! (who knows, maybe its amazing)

I am building a 12 string tele and am kind of going backwards from what everyone seems to do, I am using a Strat Texas Special bridge pickup in the bridge and a Tele American Standard neck pickup in it with the plain and simple standrd tele wiring. May end up changing out later but I just wanted to try something different.

My Peavey Generation teleclone has neck and middle strat-style pickups and a tele styled bridge. They dont seem to be evenly matched tho. I love the sound of the bridge but its quieter than the others. I was thinking about changing them in the future but instead of mixing and matching I was going to liik into a having a calibrated set made by Wizard pickups. They do requests and one offs, whatever you need . But It would be cheaper to experiment I think

My Tele for a while had two Seymour Strat SSL-1s in the neck and middle with a Seymour Broadcaster in the bridge. It just was not the same as a strat neck pup in a strat. Decent but not great. I went back to a American standard neck pup combined with the SD Broadcaster and like this a lot better especially the mid position now. I also tried the SSL-1 with the Broadcaster in a two pickup configuration and it did nothing for me. A Lindy Fralin stock neck pickup is also a great neck pup. The Fralin or Am Std neck will get you in the zone though. Have fun, Wayne

Weird.....I was toying with the same idea that is on another thread. By the way Wayne thanks for Blazing Trail on this and your experienced advice.

No problems here.

But the cut-out for the pickup in the body, and scratchplate, needs to be widened.
