I had a Tele built and had Lace Sensors put in. I did it with little knowledge of what they might sound like. My initial reaction is not so good. They seem to break up early and don't have the best clean tone. Now I don't have a lot of guitar experience just a few Les Pauls and a Nocaster. I really like the Nocaster pups. I guess I was gambling trying to save a little money and hopefully get a descent pup too plus just try something different. Anyone have experience with these? Is there any tweaking that can be done? Does lowering the height of a pup make it sound a little less honky? Would it cause it to sound cleaner? Sorry I'm a novice but before I give up on these is there anything I can try to "tune" them in? Before I start turning screws and adjusting things I don't understand any thoughts?

Is this in the wrong forum or just a stupid question?

Wrong forum. Check the description: THIS FORUM IS FOR POSTING LINKS TO MUSIC YOU HAVE PERFORMED AND RECORDED. Maybe a moderator will move it. Try Tele-Tech or Just Pickups.

In the meantime, yes, lowering a pickup will usually give you more clarity. I don't have personal experience with Lace pickups, but I know they're supposed to have less magnetic pull. Still, adjusting pickup height is the cheapest and least invasive way to modify your tone. Take some measurements, start playing with it and see for yourself.
