Couldn't find the complete answer in a search . . .
I have a MIM Standard Tele in which I would like to install vintage style tuners like those on my 60's Classic. Where, if anywhere, can I buy the tuners and the bushings that make it fit? Angela's has the tuners but no mention of the refit bushings, Stewmac's don't appear to be slotted . . .
Thanks

Order the tuners from Warmoth; they're cheaper, but not in Fender packaging. Fender simply repackages Gotoh tuners.
Regular bushings come with the tuners, but you'll need conversion bushings. You can get those at Stew Mac, WD, or Allparts.
Actually, Allparts may be your best bet, since they sell the tuners, too. That way, you could get the tuners and conversion bushings from one place and save on shipping.
The WD "Kluson" tuners are made by Ping, and are generally considered (by most of us, AWA Fender) to be not as good as the Gotohs.

sell the slotted tuners. Look under gotoh, vintage style oval knob 6 in line item 0648. If you look at the spec page you will see that this item no is slotted
Comes packaged in a stewmac bag. I got some a few months ago and am very happy with them.
Going for the locking vintage on my next bigsby equiped tele.

Related and probably very naive sounding: When you install the bushings (I haven't ordered tuners for my project guitar yet) in a neck drilled for vintage style pegs, do you glue them in with anything, and if so what?
Thanks.

I agree. The WD "Kluson" are very poor quality compared to the Gotohs. Pity Gotoh can't make a replacement with "Kluson Deluxe" stamped along the centre - for restoration purposes you understand!

No glue is needed. They are a press-fit. If you have a drill press, just using the chuck (w/no bit) is the easiest way to do it. I've used a C-clamp a few times.
Just be sure to protect the bushing itself and the backside of the headstock with something to prevent any cosmetic damage when you do it.

...the gaps between the tuners on the backside of the headstock?
specifically, i'm referring to the fact that the modern tuners are spaced wider than the Kluson-oids.
it would seem that there would be a problem with the 'in between' screws that mount the tuners to the backside of the headstock.
or is the gap between them very small?
or does it require a larger screw (i.e. larger head), to secure both adjacent tuners?
