Bassman RI Blue Speakers = Mojotone p10r ?

Does anyone know? Are the blue frame speakers in my Bassman RI Mojotone P10R's? I see no markings of any kind on the frames. Thanks.

I think the Fender blue frame and the Mojotone speakers that you are talking about were both made by Eminence.
Nothing wrong with that IMO, Eminene speakers get a bad rap from some folks but to me they sound as good / better than a lot of the older Utah, Oxford, CTS etc....

I think all those "early" reissue 10" alnico P10R knockoffs were made by Eminence. They're decent sounding speakers, if you like P10R knockoffs. Certainly there is nothing "wrong" with them. Certainly better than most Utah, Oxfart, etc...

Regardless, nowadays, there are much better choices available.

Re Eminence, they make some decent sounding speakers, and they make a couple turds as well.

I had a chance to ask Nate Kramer about that in '95 (he ran Mojotone at the time). Both those speakers were made by Eminence. Nate asked them to take the Fender blue speakers and make they a little darker so sound a little more "bluesy". If I remember correctly, Ruby (Magic Parts? can't remember)also had a slightly different version of the same speaker out at the time too.

Good ole Nate! I liked dealing w/ him... Bremmer too when they sort of teamed up! The way I understand it is that there are/were 2 versions of the 10" alnico made by Eminence... One is a 25w w/ a paper voice coil former, this was the original Mojotone P10R speaker (that they were supposed to have exclusive rights too, but...), the other is a 35w version w/ a Kapton voice coil former. This is the blue speaker found in reissue Bassmans, Vibrolux Customs, and maybe the first Pro Jrs? Reissue Jensen P10Rs are now used in the Bassmans.... I think the Pro Jr now uses a ceramic Eminence and I'm not sure what the current Vibrolux Custom uses.
