Bridge humbucker suggestions?

My #2 is a Schecter PT goldtop with a maple MIM neck. It's my "humbucker" guitar for when my Nashville is too Fendery.

Problem is, the PT is very honky sounding on the bridge pickup. Harsh mids, no jangle. In a band context, it just gets buried.

Keep in mind my style is largely Brit-pop kind of stuff: James Honeyman-Scott (Pretenders), Johnny Marr (Smiths, and about a dozen other things), Pete Townsend (obviously). My benchmarks for good humbucker tone are these guys, plus the classics: Jimmy Page, Paul Kossoff, Rick Nielsen. I'm not trying to turn this into a shred machine. or play metal on it.

Here's a good example: I've been working up some old Pat Bentar songs for an upcoming reunion of my circa 1984 college band - "Promises in the Dark" and "Precious Time". A lot of Neil Geraldo's parts are 2-note barre chords on the bottom, and then he fancies them up with those jangly chorused arpeggios on the high strings. It's that kind of stuff where I'm having the most trouble - it should be roar on the bottom and jangle on top, but I'm just getting this blaaaat in the middle.

I used to have a Duncan 59 in there; it sounded good but was too weak (compared to the 59N, which I love). An A2 Duncan "Custom Custom" followed, but was totally dead and muffled sounding. A magnet swap made it what it is today - a standard ceramic Duncan Custom. I like the power level of this pickup but it needs more highs. Or less mids. Or something.

What can you recommend to help me get my jangle back?

Well, I replaced the ceramic magnet with an A5 tonight. Seems like it fixed the "no jangle" problem, but that's only through my Vox Amp Plug (the kiddies are sleeping). We'll see how the main rig likes it in the morning.

Moring Edit: Sounds good. The magnet swap didn't make as much of a difference as I expected, but it's enough. The E and B ring through now, but the guitar is not overly bright. Which is perfect, because I don't need this guitar to be another Tele - I already have one. This guitar is my "humbucker" guitar, and now it sounds good through the same rig as my #1 Nashville.

Magnet swap on a normal HB is pretty simple - just loosen the four screws that hold the coils to the bottom plate, and slide it out. If the pickup is potted, you might need to pry the magnet out of the wax first. Some people warm the pickup with a hairdryer to re-seal the wax around the magnet after putting it back togther, but I'm too lazy.

Potsdam is my wife's hometown, and this is my first year here, but I'm lovin' it. Beautiful area, nice little town. Our house is on the Raquette River, and I made sure my home office has a view. Beats a cubucle any day.

I love my Custom 5. I loaded one into a PRS SE Singlecut and that thing screams. Clean it's warm and jangles enough to sound vintage, but with a bit more power.
