I'm gonna min-wax it (butterscotch like) but i have no idea what wood to use. mrothacker March 27th, 2009, 11:42 AM Standard woods for Fender Tele bodies are ash , alder , MIJ uses basswood , some Teles use mahogany . People here at this forum have used pine , fir , oak and many other types of wood , sometimes because they were indigeonous to the area where they live . If you did not want to order a premade body you could check out wood suppliers in your area , or even sawmills if there are any nearby . Elm is even used by OLP . Maple is the standard for Tele necks , but you could use other types of wood like mahogany or wenge or bloodwood maybe even cherry or walnut . If you want to play it safe use ash or alder for the body and maple for the neck ! |
