how to bypass tone knob for tele neck pickup?

I have my tele set up with the standard 3-way switch (neck, neck+bridge, bridge) going to the tone pot, and wondered how I could set it up to bypass the tone pot for just the neck pickup.

I'm hoping to gain a little more high end on the neck pickup by doing this.

thanks,
J.

I used this diagram for mine, when wired like this the tone control only works for the bridge pickup alone. Other wirings I tried bypassed the tone control in the neck position but activated it in the middle position - I wanted mine wired so that I could have the tone control rolled off a little in the bridge position without affecting any of the other two positions.

Could you just fit a no load tone pot? It would give you what you want with more flexibility.

That wouldn't achieve what I want at all, as I want to be able to roll off some treble on the bridge pickup only, while at the same time still have the tone bypassed for the neck pickup.

Cool, I'll have to give this a whirl tonight.

thanks!

Steinar G-
I did the wiring you suggested (the bottom one) and it worked perfectly! I actually had my tele wired up exactly like the bottom diagram already. This was how my tech had it wired a couple years ago when it was on a different tele. Except the wire to the tone pot was coming off of the same lug on the volume pot that the switch was wired to. All I had to do was unsolder that wire from the volume lug and re-solder it to the lug on the switch that you indicated.

thanks so much!

I've been very happy with it, I love being able to roll off the tone for the bridge pickup without it affecting the other two positions..
