YIKES, I miscounted the votes on Appearance and in doing so announced the wrong 3rd place winner.

I'm sorry sorry. I figured I'd better make it right rather than leave my mistake. So, I apologize to everyone for being a dunderhead.

How the judging took place:

The judges voted for their favs in each category (ingenuity, originality, appearance, build thread and overall result). The winner of each category got 5 points, the second place got 3 points and then 1 point for everyone else receiving a vote. The Scattesquire got the most points total. Followed closely by the Palletcaster and the CADocaster.

I am surprised, thankful and honored to be included in the top 3... Thanks to Paul and the panel of judges and all the other contestants for a fun month of building, creativity and innovation. It was fun trying to see what I could make instead of buy and throwing caution to the wind and trying new things.

Thanks Again to all and congrats to Scatterlee.

Congratulations to everyone who participated. I enjoyed every single build thread, and learned something from each of them.

I hope that those who didn't finish in time, stick it out and keep posting their builds. I'm looking forward to seeing those finished up too.

ps. Scatterlee, do us all a favor and don't use that money on tools or parts. I really enjoyed your ingenuity and use of low-tech tools. Spend it on beer.

Fantastic effort from all concerned, even those that were unable for one reason or another to complete in time.

To the three guys on the podium, I think your guitars look amazing. If they play as well as they look, they are fine indeed.

As for the winner, I must say that's the build I followed most and the end result looks stellar.

Congrats..

Congrats to the winners... and to all the participants! There was something unique and impressive in every build.

Congratulations, Scatt! Well deserved and earned!

I found your thread inspiring and challenging - I fully anticipated buying a cheap modern-style Tele bridge until I saw you make yours. I thought, uh, wow, okay then. That's how it's done!

And then I thought, well, he's made one out of steel - so what can I do different?

Thanks, man, for pushing all of us and setting the bar high very early on!

I've been watching the World Baseball Classic... just sheer joy for the game of baseball... maybe the best stuff ever as it relates to baseball.

All of these builds were like that... I couldn't root for anyone build over another but the absolute joy for building and telecasters and really really cool people doing amazing things brought a lot of joy to my house.

Scatter Lee really set that 'can do' tone and the tone of someone who has fun with things...sees problems as opportunities and just handles it.

All who participated should be proud... some cool guitars and some really awesome people. Congrats to Scatter Lee and all the fellers who took a shot. You inspire us to be better!

it takes imagination, skill, improvisation, a tiny bit of luck, maybe a few choice cuss words on the way, and darned determination to create wonderful musical instruments with such a small budget.

congratulations to the winners: scatter lee, big mike simpson and martyb1

What a great source of entertainment, education and encouragement this challenge was. Hats off to all contestants.

Would be cool to see each of the build photos/comments strung together as a slide show. Maybe even with recordings of each of the respective instruments in the background.
