ravindave_3600 March 8th, 2009, 05:22 AM My band, Bright Red Tie, had a great 2.5 hour show today for our local Christian motorcyle gang, the Road Riders for Jesus. We've played for them before and get along great; they like that we play gospel that sounds like greasy gritty rock and roll, and we like that they're good people who feed us well.
Our list today included some classic rock and soul, as well as things with God-friendly themes (like "John the Revelator" and "Aint No Rock") and a big ol' bunch of originals. It's always nice to hear people cheering for something you wrote
We were raising money for missions in India, and there was a large, generous crowd who were really into the tune-age. All in all it was big fun times with the tele.
Also today, Stephen's band Dance Like David (another song we played!) had an important gig he was looking forward to, too. How'd it go, Bro?
scooteraz March 8th, 2009, 10:58 AM Sounds really cool. Went to the band sites, sounds like you guys have some fun with this. Where did the band name come from (since I saw NO ties in the myspace pictures)?
jazzrat March 8th, 2009, 05:27 PM Good goin' Dave!
broadcaster March 8th, 2009, 07:25 PM A great gig for a great cause Dave. Very very nice.
ravindave_3600 March 9th, 2009, 01:26 AM OH NO! YOU WENT TO THE WEBSITE? It's the kind of thing where the bass player (who is net-skilled but busy) got it started and has left it hanging for three months. But I'm hoping we can get some good tunes up from this gig, add some pics, etc.
As for the name... someone asks at almost every gig. We tell people, "The Bible says we are bound to God through the blood of Jesus - that is our bright red tie." It doesn't mean much to people on the outside, but it gives us the chance to share a little of our faith.

It was great! Unforunately, the two guys I tapped for video shooting it, one didnt come, and the other didnt bring his camera!
I wonder what would happen if I didnt bring my guitar?
charlie chitlin March 10th, 2009, 12:42 AM Dave...do yourself a favor...you may, one day, come across a motorcycle "gang" that isn't Christian. Consider using the word "club".

I've met a few of those guys. Most of them are nice enough, as long as you don't look at 'em funny. Or breath when they don't want you to. Actually, the first time I met the RRJs was when we were doing a prison ministry with them. We had a fun time and talked bikes with some guys who looked like they REALLY needed to be inside.
In any case, thanks for the tip, bro.

Acapella!!
On second thought, the pinch harmonics might be a bit rough!
ravindave_3600 March 25th, 2009, 01:54 AM Remember, NEVER pinch a biker, harmonically or not.
