Okay, I searched to see if there was any threads like that here, and there wasn't any I could find, so I think it would be neat if we had a random picture thread, where, obviously, you post a random picture (or it can be relevent, whatever). Just as long as it followed the rules of course.

I saw the Black Sabbath trilogy-film when I was a child, but I didn't know what it was. "A Drop of Water" was the single most terrifying thing I had ever seen.

I finally discovered what the movie was a few years back and bought a copy. It still holds up.

Today I finally got a chance to "crunch the numbers."

The Area of a circle

Ac = π r ^ 2

The Area of the square that can be drawn around it

Ax = 4 r ^2

it follows

π = 4 (Ac/As)

I counted 455 points in the circle and 601 in the square

The number of points in each of the shapes is proportional to the area so...

π = 4 (455/601)

π = 3.028

makes me wonder how "random" the points on the original image are.

in my experience this technique converges on π much faster
